Leaving Cert Applied
Leaving Cert Applied is an alternative modular-based, project-driven method of doing a Leaving Certificate. It is cross-curricular in nature and requires and encourages students to work on their own initiative and to critically evaluate their work. This on-going self assessment allows them to see their strengths and weaknesses and where they need to focus to maximise their results. Learning is very much related to real life situations.
A 90% attendance rate is required as is the completion on time of projects and key assignments. Work experience is an integral part of the course. A student can thus have up to 65% of marks acquired before undertaking final written papers in June of Year 2 of the course.
